A research scientist position is available immediately at the Soybean Genomics and Biotechnology Laboratory at the University of Missouri. The research focus of this position is to study the genetic factors associated with seed composition traits to enhance the value of soybean utilizing the molecular and quantitative genetics tools. The successful candidate will focus on characterizing the candidate genes associated with the traits and biochemical pathways, SNP discovery, genomic mapping, and cloning of QTL regulating soybean seed composition. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in genetics, plant biology, or a related discipline. The research scientist position requires strong post doctoral experience in plant genomics and trait discovery. The candidate will have an excellent knowledge of experimental techniques and approaches used in plant biology and genomics including marker discovery, genotyping, QTL mapping, and genome data mining. Experience with next generation sequencing, SNP discovery platforms, and biological databases are desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative research environment are essential. Applicants should provide a letter of interest, a complete CV, and three reference letters.
